Where to begin?

Short answer is, I don't know. At first I thought I would just go in the order in which the recipes are in the first book, but I quickly realized that that would be impossible, since the first recipe calls for pumpkin and the season is a long way off in this part of the world.

I will be producing the recipes as the ingredients become available and are at their peak. I am also thinking that sometimes I will not be able to obtain the precise ingredient for a particular recipe, in which case I will make it with its closest relative.

I will follow the recipes as they are in the books to the "t".

At the end of the recipe I will be rating my results, not the quality of the recipe, since a good cook (which I may or may not be, it is yet to be seen) cannot blame anyone else but himself if deliciousness is not achieved. I will also make note of what could have been done better (which really, everything can be done better, but, hey...) and what worked well. If there are things I cannot stomach, I will eat them for the sake of knowledge. I am not a picky eater, but I may draw the line...

Will I be done with this blog after cooking everything from both books? Maybe, but I think that the essence of this project is to learn how to understand food as Mr. Henderson does, and perhaps make food around his way of making food and thus carry on with BFG. Not nearly as good, I would think, but it is worth a shot.

A note on the illustration above: the piggy is the exact illustration found on the cover of "The Whole Beast"; I did not "borrow" it from anyone, it is clean as whistle (you can find it at http://us.fotolia.com for a few dollars, along with many other great images).
